Hirad Moradi, Composer / Pianist

Bio

The music of Iranian-Canadian composer Hirad Moradi (b. 2003) takes listeners on a journey into the profound and cathartic emotions that define the human experience.

Moradi's works can be heard on screen in live-action and animated films, and in concert halls across North America and Europe. His concert works have been performed by prominent groups including Unheard-of//Ensemble, Dior Quartet, Talea Ensemble, and Mostly Modern Orchestra. Most recently, his scores have been featured in institutional events at the University of British Columbia.

That range comes from a distinct voice: a kaleidoscopic reflection of the eclectic musical styles that surrounded him during a childhood spent constantly moving from place to place, a blend of classical, jazz, metal, folk, and electronic influences. Through this, Moradi crafts a uniquely innovative fusion of Persian and Western classical music that explores cultural intersectionality while retaining an unmistakable artistic individuality.

As co-founder, composer, and pianist of Solaris, Moradi brings his cross-cultural soundscapes and multi-genre influences into curating immersive concert experiences built around original music.

In addition to this project, Moradi continues to actively perform as a pianist, drummer, percussionist, guitarist, and vocalist with several ensembles across Canada and the U.S.
